Nellie and Joe’s Famous Key West Lime Juice

November 24, 2009

The long-awaited box of Nellie and Joe’s Key lime juice arrived last week, but I didn’t have time to try any of it until the weekend.  Overlooking the small print that said it is double-strength, I used the amount I had with regular lime juice in my pots de creme.  The result was an exceedingly tart Key lime pie! (from which Nellie and Joe’s can be ordered) gives a number of glowing user comments , so it seems to be an excellent product.

Nellie and Joe’s Key Lime Pie

  • 1 nine inch graham cracker pie shell
  • 1 14-oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 c. Nellie and Joe’s Key West Lime Juice (double strength)

  1. Combine milk, egg yolks and lime juice – blend until smooth.
  2. Pour filling into pie shell.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool 10 minutes before refrigerating.

Next weekend, I’ll use this recipe and hopefully achieve the ultimate Key lime pie. Ultimate Key lime pie
